Centro Escolar University (CEU) has earned institutional certification from ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), becoming one of only four institutions in the Philippines and 11 in the ASEAN region to achieve this distinction.
The AUN-QA, established to harmonize educational standards across ASEAN universities, conducts rigorous quality assessments at both program and institutional levels. CEU successfully completed the AUN Quality Assessment at the Institutional Level, which evaluates three major criteria: Strategic QA (management and functional aspects), Systemic QA (quality assurance systems), and Results (educational, research, service, financial and market outcomes).

Notable strengths cited in CEU’s assessment include its Learning Management System (CEU LEAPS), accreditations by various bodies, Autonomous Status from the Commission on Higher Education, values-embedded educational policies, graduate employability, and outstanding licensure examination results.
“Our membership in the AUN is a testament of our commitment to our stakeholders—to be accountable for giving them the education they deserve,” explains Dr. Teresa Perez, CEU senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “Since 2015, we have been working to acquire certification for our programs to show unbiased proof that our programs are at par with international standards. This year, we took the commitment to another level and worked on getting our first AUN-QA institutional certification.”

The assessment also identified areas for improvement, which CEU welcomes as part of its continuous quality enhancement process.
“Apart from validating that our efforts are going in the right direction, third-party assessments like AUN-QA help us refine our strategies,” Dr. Teresa adds. “While we know where we are good at, we are also made aware of areas we need to work on.”
Prior to this institutional certification, AUN has assessed 16 CEU programs since 2015, including Pharmacy, Business Administration, Dentistry, Nursing, and Communication and Media.
