CEBU CITY, Philippines – ANTHILL Fabric Gallery announced a partnership with Maybank Foundation to implement the Maybank Women Eco-Weavers Programme (MWEW) in the Philippines. The collaboration marks ANTHILL’s 15th anniversary and expands the MWEW program to its fifth ASEAN country.
The MWEW program has already trained over 1,900 women weavers and supported more than 2,200 farmers across Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia. In the Philippines, the initiative will focus on abaca fiber research and production, creating a sustainable value chain that integrates farmers, weavers, and circular economy principles.
“For 15 years, ANTHILL has been deeply committed to weaving sustainability into the fabric of Filipino communities,” said Anya Lim, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ANTHILL Fabric Gallery. “This partnership with Maybank Foundation is a major milestone, allowing us to scale our impact further.“
Izlyn Ramli, Head of Group Corporate Affairs Maybank and CEO of Maybank Foundation, said: “Through a shared commitment to cultural preservation and sustainable development, ANTHILL and Maybank Foundation aim to empower weaving communities with the tools, resources, and market access they need to thrive in a modern economy.”
The partnership will enhance economic resilience for women weavers while promoting ethical textile production and regenerative farming practices. Maybank Philippines and its Cebu and Cagayan de Oro branch teams will support community engagement and program sustainability.
As an ASEAN-accredited entity, Maybank Foundation advances regional social impact initiatives that align with broader sustainability goals and economic inclusion throughout Southeast Asia.
