Alibaba Cloud strengthens AI capabilities with innovations for international customers

Advanced AI models, tools, and infrastructure updates are now available to international customers

Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, unveiled new AI models, tools, and infrastructure upgrades for international customers at its Spring Launch 2025 event, reinforcing its commitment to global AI innovation.

“We are launching a series of Platform-as-a-Service(PaaS)and AI capability updates to meet the growing demand for digital transformation from across the globe. These upgrades allow us to deliver even more secure and high-performance services that empower businesses to scale and innovate in an AI-driven world,” said Selina Yuan, President of International Business, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “As cloud and AI become essential for global growth, we are committed to enhancing our core product offerings to address our customers’ evolving needs.”

Advanced AI models

Available through Singapore availability zones, the expanded offerings include:

  • Qwen-Max: Large-scale Mixture of Experts (MoE) model
  • QwQ-Plus: Advanced reasoning model for deep analytical thinking and complex problem-solving
  • QVQ-Max: Visual reasoning model supporting visual input with chain-of-thought output
  • Qwen2.5-Omni-7b: End-to-end multimodal model

Enhanced platform capabilities

To further support the AI models on the PaaS front, Alibaba Cloud’s Platform for AI (PAI) has rolled out major enhancements to support scalable, cost-effective, and user-friendly solutions for generative AI and LLMs:

  • PAI-Elastic Algorithm Service: New distributed inference capabilities with multi-node architecture for super-large models
  • Prefill-decode disaggregation: 92% increase in concurrency and 91% boost in tokens per second with Qwen2.5-72B model
  • PAI-Model Gallery: Comprehensive selection of nearly 300 cutting-edge open-source models

Database innovations

  • PolarDB now integrates native AI inference capabilities powered by Qwen, reducing processing latency while enhancing efficiency and security
  • AnalyticDB integrated into Model Studio as the recommended vector database for RAG solutions

New SaaS AI Tools

  • AI Doc: Intelligent document processing tool that parses various documents and generates tailored reports
  • Smart Studio: AI-powered content creation platform enabling text-to-image, image-to-image, and text-to-video applications

Alibaba Cloud also launched an AI search function on its website, powered by Qwen, to help enterprise clients discover solutions and gain strategic insights.

Upgraded partner incentive policies provide increased flexibility, higher commission rates, and enhanced training resources to support resellers and distributors.

In February 2025, Alibaba Group announced a US $53 billion investment over three years to advance cloud computing and AI infrastructure, exceeding its total AI and cloud spending over the past decade. Alibaba Cloud now operates 87 availability zones across 29 regions globally.
