Aboitiz- Ormoc partnership
Aboitiz Construction recently inked a partnership with the local government of Ormoc City in Leyte and the Technical Education and Skills Development Center (TESDC) to establish job linkages and network services for technical vocational (tech-voc) graduates in the said area.
Through this partnership, Aboitiz Construction aims to have a good source of information about potential skilled workers and match the skills of Tech-Voc graduates with the set qualifications and requirements of various construction projects of the company nationwide.
This initiative is also in preparation for the 500-manpower requirement for the shutdown works for a mining company in Surigao del Norte this September 2022. In addition, this also fills the job requirements for skilled welders, scaffolders, pipefitters, and riggers of the company’s upcoming projects.
GCash, San Fernando City seals digital partnership for safer, convenient real-time transactions
GCash, the Philippines’ leading fintech company, has begun partnering with local government units (LGUs) nationwide to help them adopt safe and convenient digital financial solutions, in line with its goal of making government transactions faster and safer for millions of Filipinos.
GCash recently partnered with the City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga, through the Treasurer’s Office to enable digital payments and educate its employees and constituents on the features and benefits of using e-wallets such as GCash.
Under the initial stage of the partnership, citizens of San Fernando can now pay their business and real property taxes through the “Pay Bills” feature inside the GCash app. Public market vendors can also easily pay their monthly stall rent anytime, anywhere via GCash using the same feature.
GCash held a week-long Express Lane program that educated and promoted cashless payments via GCash Pay Bills to users in the city. GCash booths and roving ambassadors were deployed in the San Fernando City Hall to assist the public and answer any queries.
GCash also conducted financial literacy (FinLit) programs to local government employees, market vendors, and heads of Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODA).
Another module of GCash’s FinLit program is the Palaguin ang Negosyo with GCash. The chance to earn extra by becoming a GCash Pera Outlet (PO) was also introduced
There are currently 364 market vendors and 38 TODA heads ready to accept payment via GCash QR, and 270 active GCash POs in San Fernando City. Tricycle drivers in the city will also begin receiving their fuel subsidy from the government via GCash.
UN Philippines World Bicycle Day at SM
United Nations Philippines recently celebrated World Bicycle Day with a Fun Bike Ride around the SM Mall of Asia. Joining the ride were around 250 cyclists from UN Philippines; the embassies of the Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Indonesia, Netherlands and Poland; and cycling advocacy groups including Firefly Brigade, to highlight the bicycle as a healthy, sustainable and inclusive means of transportation.
