The Aboitiz Foundation Inc. was recognized by the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (IACT) for its invaluable contribution to promoting the welfare of the commuting public.

During the height of the pandemic, the Aboitiz Foundation provided much-needed personal protective equipment  to road safety operatives.

The “I-Act at your Service  2.0” awarding ceremony was held last Monday, February 13 at MAAX Auditorium, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

Partners for youth

Through various initiatives for the youth, Ayala Foundation and its partners provide training and mentoring in various areas including as far as Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Ayala Foundation and Mitsubishi Corp.  recently renewed their commitment to support the youth sector through a memorandum of understanding for the Maging     Magiting Youth Leadership Program (MMYLP).

The yearlong partnership aims to prepare students to be leaders of the future and help the youth develop a stronger love of country through active citizenship.

The donation from Mitsubishi will enable 250 youth leaders to engage with their communities and implement projects that address the needs of local stakeholders.

Its online component, meanwhile, will allow youth leaders to participate in virtual field trips to Ayala Museum so they can deepen their appreciation for Philippine art and culture. It will also provide enrichment activities to CENTEX students to hone their leadership skills. Lastly, the MMYLP will hold a national digital conference to celebrate the youth’s role in preserving freedom.

Zuellig Pharma’s female leaders recognized

Zuellig Pharma  announced that two exceptional female leaders have been recognized by industry bodies for their outstanding leadership.

Zuellig Pharma Philippines’ Market managing director Jannette Jakosalem was cited as a finalist in the recently concluded Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ICCPI) Leadership Awards while ZP Therapeutics’ Regulatory Affairs director Carem Arevalo received the Philippine Association of Pharmacists in the Pharmaceutical Industry’s Exemplary Award and Fire Up Award.

Jakosalem was nominated under the “Women in Business of the Year” category in the recently concluded ICCPI Leadership Awards.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,  Jakosalem became a prominent leader who supported various public-private partnerships including the Project Kaagapay.

Arevalo received PAPPI’s Exemplary Award for her strong sense of commitment, reliability, and consistency in delivering above-and-beyond contributions to achieve one or more of PAPPI’s strategic goals and the Fire Up Award for her exemplary teamwork, dedication, hard work, and burning desire to deliver results.

Global education at Mapua

iPeople, the publicly listed Yuchengco-Ayala education partnership, introduced  a first of its kind offering that enables Filipino students to immerse themselves in global educational experiences with top international universities and a top Philippine university, in a highly cost-effective manner.

Last year, iPeople school Mapúa University and its daughter schools Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao, entered into a collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), which has been ranked America’s most innovative university, ahead of Stanford and MIT, over the past 8 years.

The collaboration is focused on Business and Health Sciences programs.

Through this collaboration, the Mapúa schools also became members of the ASU- Cintana Alliance, a global network of 15 of the most innovative higher education institutions in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Students now have the opportunity to be immersed in international learning experiences. They have access to ASU’s world-class content in all their ASU-enhanced courses and are able to participate in Global Signature Courses through state-of-the-art virtual Global Classrooms.

Students can also participate in classes co-lectured by ASU faculty in the US. Lastly, students will have many opportunities to participate in dozens of student exchange and summer immersion programs at ASU-Cintana Alliance schools.

EV shuttle 

A. Brown Co. Inc. said it is venturing into an electric shuttle service business in Cagayan de Oro in partnership with GET Philippines, Inc.

The joint-venture company will be capitalized for P45 million with each group owning half. The venture will operate 10 community optimized managed electric transport (COMET) electric vehicles.

The  joint-venture company will be responsible for the provision, management, service, maintenance, and operation of the fleet of COMET electric vehicles for the ABC Electric Shuttle Service in Cagayan de Oro. It will also offer the COMET electric vehicles as an effective marketing tool and platform for media and transit advertising for third parties, A. Brown said.

It shall make use of the GETPASS Transport Ecosystem as a fleet and passenger management and monitoring system for the ABC Electric Shuttle Service,” it added.

Bread-making livelihood

AP Renewables Inc. (APRI) recently donated a newly-refurbished bakery and bakery livelihood kits to the women’s organization of Limao, Calauan in Laguna.

The event was attended by partners from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IV-A and the Municipality of Calauan, as well as representatives of the Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the Aboitiz Group.

The project, which received over P500,000 from the Aboitiz Foundation, enabled the community bakery’s refurbishments and the provision of essential baking equipment.  This included 250 kilograms of flour from sister firm Pilmico and Gold Coin Group.
