PhilHealth has significantly increased its coverage for dengue patients amid rising cases reported by the Department of Health. The state health insurer now covers up to PHP 47,000 for severe dengue cases, up from PHP 16,000, while mild cases receive PHP 19,500 in coverage, increased from PHP 10,000.

These enhanced rates align with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve health insurance coverage for members seeking medical treatment.

While PhilHealth provides hospitalization benefits, PCEO Edwin M. Mercado urges the public to practice preventive measures and seek early consultation when experiencing dengue symptoms. These symptoms include high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.
