MVP vows to resolve CDO water issue

Businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan yesterday vowed to resolve the issues faced by his company with the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD).

Pangilinan made this statement after President Marcos Jr. yesterday directed the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to look into its possible takeover and management of the COWD which has outstanding payables to Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. (COBI).

The President, during an event Cagayan de Oro City, said Pangilinan has agreed to his appeal to restore water supply in Cagayan de Oro and to talk to the local government officials to provide a solution to the supply problem.

Marcos also directed LWUA to determine the appropriate water rate and the compliance with the obligations to the consumer and supplier.

The Cagayan de Oro City local government had initially declared a state of emergency due to the water crisis after COBI disconnected water service to COWD due to unpaid debts.
