Binay amplifies local governance reform in Bicol tour

Senatorial candidate and Makati Mayor Abby Binay visited several municipalities and cities in the Bicol region following the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas rally in Pili, Camarines Sur.

During meetings with local officials and residents, Binay outlined legislative initiatives to strengthen local governance and promote community welfare.

In Pili, Mayor Tomas Bongalonta Jr. and Councilor Annalyn Bongalonta welcomed Binay, highlighting the sisterhood between Makati and Pili. Councilor Bongalonta thanked Binay for Makati’s ₱1 million donations for both Typhoon Enteng and Typhoon Kristine relief efforts.

When Makati provides aid to those affected by calamities, it is given freely—without the need for formal requests,” Binay said.

In Tigaon, Binay met with 4th District officials led by Congressman Arnie Fuentebella, emphasizing the importance of providing salaries for barangay officials. Local mayors expressed gratitude for Makati’s financial aid during Typhoon Kristine.

Binay attended a Women’s Summit in Iriga City celebrating International Women’s Month, hosted by Mayor Wilfredo Rex Oliva, Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat and Congressman Migz Villafuerte.

As a woman leader, I know the importance of having strong female voices in policymaking,” she said.

In Legazpi, Albay, Binay addressed a Public Consultation of the Legazpi Port District alongside Mayor Alfredo “Pido” Garbin Jr. and Congressman Joey Salceda, advocating for free medicines for seniors and regular salaries for barangay officials.

Binay also met with Camarines Sur mayors and barangay officials at the CamSur Water Sports Complex in an event organized by Congressman Luis Raymund Villafuerte.
