President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved a salary increase and provision of medical allowances for employees of government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) in recognition of their public service.

Speaking at the GOCC Day in Malacañang on Tuesday, Marcos said the adoption of Compensation and Position Classification System II (CPCS II) will raise salaries for GOCC workers. The adjustments will be applied retroactively to January 1 for corporations that implemented the first classification system in 2021.

“In support of the hardworking men and women who make this possible, I have approved the Compensation and Position Classification System II that would increase the salaries of GOCC employees. I have also approved the provision of a tiered medical allowance for GOCC employees depending on the capacity of the GOCCs,” Marcos said.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said an executive order will soon be issued, spelling out the details, such as the computations for the salary hike.

The provision of the medical allowance, meanwhile, would depend on the capacity of the GOCCs.

Marcos said the increase in pay and benefits reflects the government’s commitment to “fostering a more capable and motivated public sector workforce” that can deliver on the Bagong Pilipinas vision.
