Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, is bringing a high-level delegation to a business forum in Manila this weekend hosted by the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO).
The event, scheduled for Aug. 23, 2025 in Pasay City, is set to highlight APECO’s investment opportunities, with a special focus on the groundbreaking plan to build the Philippines’ first-ever national defense hub.
Danantara, which manages $900 billion in assets, will be joined by a 55-member delegation from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
The forum will mark the first foreign business mission hosted by APECO.
“This is a historic moment for APECO,” the Freeport Authority’s president and CEO Gil G. Taway IV said. “The trust and confidence shown by KADIN and its members reflect the growing recognition of Aurora and the eastern seaboard as an investment frontier.”
Top executives from infrastructure, agriculture, finance, technology, and other key sectors will participate in the discussions.
Presentations from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) will showcase APECO’s critical airport and seaport projects.
The forum aims to forge powerful partnerships between APECO and Indonesian enterprises, positioning the Casiguran-based ecozone as a strategic hub for exports to Japan, South Korea and the United States.
APECO’s vision is to transform Aurora into a major transshipment and logistics center, connecting Southeast Asia to the wider Pacific.
