Prices of more than half of Noche Buena products were unchanged from last year’s levels, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The DTI released the 2024 Noche Buena Price Guide on Sunday ahead of the expected increased spending for Christmas season. The guide remain effective until December 31.
The DTI said prices of 121 of the 236 stock keeping units (SKUs) of the 22 Noche Buena products across 12 categories in its list were stable including holiday staples like certain brands of ham, fruit cocktail, queso de bola, sandwich spread, cheese, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and all-purpose cream.
Thirteen SKUs reduced their prices, including select brands of mayonnaise, pasta, elbow macaroni, salad macaroni, and all-purpose cream.
Certain brands of ham, o spaghetti, macaroni and pasta sauces saw increases in prices.
The prices of ham ranges from P70 to P928.50; queso de bola, P210 to P445; fruit cocktail, P61.76 to P302.50; cheese, P56.50 to P310; mayonnaise, P20.40 to P245.85; all-purpose cream, P36.50 to P72; sandwich spread, P27 to P263.60; pasta/spaghetti, P32 to P114; elbow macaroni, P30.50 to P126.25; tomato sauce, P16.50 to P92.85; salad macaroni, P36.50 to P126.25 and; spaghetti sauce, P28.50 to P103.
DTI Acting Secretary Cristina Roque urged consumers to compare prices and select products that best fit their budget and preferences for the holiday season.
Roque also advised consumers to check expiration dates to ensure product quality and consider bulk purchases for potential cost savings per unit. Additional special promotions and discounts may be available, offering further opportunities to save.
To help consumers easily identify the Noche Buena Price Guide, the DTI has retained its markers: a star indicates no price change, while a Christmas tree symbol highlights decreased prices.
