Power supply services in Zamboanga is expected to further improve with the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative’s (Zamcelco) push for the GetSET25 (Stable Electricity 2025) Zamboanga campaign.

Rommel Agan, Zamcelco chief management officer, said the program involves the installation of additional transformer units, construction of new substations, procurements of service vehicles and implementation of better ways to improve systems reliability through clearing activities and obstruction removal, among others.

“We’ve also began the inventory of the whole franchise area… If anyone can look back to what the situation was before 2019, I’m sure you’d agree that the new Zamcelco has already begun implementing upgrades to the power system,” Agan added.

Jomar Castillo, Zamcelco executive committee chairman, said the cooperative has also managed to keep generation charges in the franchise area as among the lowest in Mindanao.

Castillo said this was made possible with the management’s efforts in “managing the supply contracts of the cooperative to achieve the most favorable power mix for our customers.” -Jed Macapagal
