The World Bank has announced the appointment of a new country director for the Philippines effective yesterday, July 1.
In a statement, the World Bank said economist Zafer Mustafaoglu has been appointed as country director for the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, a role which was previously assigned to Ndiame Diop during his four-year stint.
Mustafaoglu, a Turkish national, will oversee the World Bank’s program of support in the three countries, advancing the institution’s policy dialogues with government officials, civil society, academia, the private sector and other key stakeholders.
