Former senator Manuel Villar is warning the public against a “deep fake” video that made use of his face and voice to promote an investment scam.
Villar in a statement said “deceptive individuals” made use of an old footage of him in an interview with a TV network to alter the video using artificial intelligence and posted the clip on social media.
In the video, Villar is quoted promoting a “lifesaving platform” named “momentum capital” where every participant of the program investing the minimum the amount of P450 to P500 will earn a minimum of P4,500 per day.
“I urge the public to disregard that video. There is no such investment program. I enjoin the public to be more discerning and extra cautious when viewing posts and videos that use AI technologies and that promise easy money or success. There is no such thing as easy money,” Villar said in a statement.
