THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have signed a Non-Binding Air Navigation and Implementation Cooperation Work Plan, strengthening collaboration between the agencies.
The work plan was signed on the sidelines of the 35th Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday, a CAAP statement said.
CAAP director-general Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo said the work plan provides a framework for cooperation in improving air navigation and safety by sharing non-sensitive data resources.
“This work plan reflects our shared commitment to a safer, more efficient, and forward thinking aviation industry,” said Tamayo.
The agreement also focuses on key areas, including the modernization of communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) systems and automation infrastructure, air traffic flow management and contingency planning, and the potential privatization of airports and air navigation and traffic services.
The partnership underscores the Philippines’ commitment to aviation safety, efficiency, and modernization through international collaboration.
