Local solar power energy developer Upgrade Energy Philippines (UGEP) is targeting to install up to 700 megawatts (MW) of solar projects by 2028.

In a statement, UGEP said the pipeline includes both utility-scale and commercial industrial solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects. The company did not disclose the project cost.

One of UGEP’s recently completed projects,  the 13.811MW roof-mounted solar of JG Summit Corp.’s Merbau facility in Batangas City, is considered the largest consumer-driven solar rooftop installation in the Philippines.

“We are very bullish (about) the growth of solar in the country… UGEP creates efficient and sustainable power solutions for its clients. We are backed by the strong experience

of our shareholders and management team,” said Ruth Yu-Owen, UGEP president and chief executive officer, in a statement.

UGEP develops and provides engineering, procurement and construction apart from operation and maintenance of commercial and industrial solar projects.

Last year, UGEP entered into a joint venture with Aboitiz Power Corp.’s subsidiary Aboitiz Power Distributed Renewables Inc., to pursue solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects for

commercial and industrial consumers in the Philippines.

UGEP has a total portfolio of at least 83 MW from 22 projects, a company website said.
