Tubig Pilipinas Group Inc. will pursue a 25-year bulk water supply project in Cebu after signing a contract with the Metro Cebu Water District on Tuesday.

The company said the project which will cost up to P2 billion will involve the establishment of a water treatment plant and bulk supply pipeline with maximum volume of 50 million liters per day.

Tubig Pilipinas will also serve as the lead for the project while Israel-based technology Water Matic International Philippines Inc. will serve as the technical partner.

“The creation of a water treatment plant and bulk supply pipeline also represents an opportunity to create synergies in the area of hydropower in-line pipe turbine technology…

This is because renewable energy can be generated for this project and used in Tubig Pilipinas’ water treatment facilities,” said Eric Roxas, Repower Energy Development Corp. (REDC) president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
