Under the contracts awarded by the DOE, the Triconti Windkraft Group now holds exclusive rights to studying and developing the very first offshore wind projects in the Philippines.

Lila Rosenberger,  group president, said the locations have great potentials due to consistent wind speeds and accessibility from the foreshore in terms of grid connectivity and maintenance.

The Triconti Windkraft Group currently has 500 megawatts (MW) of onshore wind under development that are in different stages of pre-development, with the first project in Nabas, Aklan slated to come online by 2022.

According to the DOE, the total installed capacity of wind power plants in the country is at 427 MW.
