The Phil-Tower Consortium Inc. (PhilTower) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) enhancing telecommunications infrastructure and community safety.
Under the MOU, the organizations will conduct site inspections and enforce stringent compliance checks, ensuring each telecommunications tower site maintains highest safety and security standards in line with PNP and national regulations.
The parties said this dual-layer verification guarantees communities can rely on these structures to be secure, safe, dependable, and resilient.
The MOU aims to bridge the digital divide by extending services to underserved areas especially in areas where the PNP is operating.
The PNP and PhilTower plan to conduct joint workshops and outreach programs, ensuring residents are informed and actively involved.
The partnership also optimizes public resources by utilizing PNP-owned properties for critical infrastructure while complying with highest standards. This collaboration is designed to evolve, with the potential to integrate advanced ICT solutions and communication tools that support both public safety and digital connectivity.
“As digital reliance grows, safe infrastructure becomes more crucial. This MOU marks a significant step toward combining service with innovation,” said PMGEN Mario Reyes, PNP director for logistics.
Kalvin Parpan, chief government and external affairs officer of PhilTower and Miescor Infrastructure Development Corp. (MIDC) said stringent security and safety protocols are observed in managing and operating telecommunication tower assets.
PhilTower has recently merged with MIDC.
