The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved with finality the current authorized toll rate of South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Phase 1 operated by San Miguel Corp. unit SMC SLEX Inc. hat will likely pave the way for the approval of its pending toll rate hike petition.
In a notice, TRB said it upheld the approval and implementation of the initial toll rate granted for Phase 1 of the SLEX project on Feb. 16, 2023, covering the 2010 petition.
TRB also dismissed the opposition and declared as final the current authorized toll rate inclusive of value-added tax (VAT) for Phase 1 of SLEX which is P3.39 per kilometer for class 1 vehicles, P6.79 per km for class 2 and P10.18 per km for class 3.
Julius Corpuz, TRB spokesperson, explained that since the board upheld the approval of the initial toll rate inclusive of VAT that was granted last February, the current toll rate is permanent.
This will now become the basis of the new toll rates if and when TRB approved SMC SLEX’s petition for hikes for 2012 and 2014 which s currently under review.
“The matter is still going through the process,” said Corpuz, adding the TRB will inform the public once the authority to collect any toll increase gets a green light.
TRB has approved the petition of NLEX Corp. for an additional P7 toll in the open system and P0.36 per km in the closed system which have been implemented starting on June 15.
The toll adjustment was part of NLEX’s periodic adjustment due in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2020.
Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists traveling within the open system pay an additional P7 for class 1 vehicles, P17 for class 2 and P19 for class 3 vehicles.
