Several consulting firms have submitted bids for the services of three major regional airport development projects with a combined worth of P249 million, aimed at boosting regional connectivity and economic growth.
One of these projects is the Camiguin Airport Development Project worth P79.6 million, which involves consulting services for the feasibility study, master plan, environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), and the preparation of a land acquisition and resettlement action plan (LARAP).
The New Surigao Airport Development Project, with an approved budget of P77.5 million, also covers similar consulting services, including the feasibility study, master plan, ESIA, and LARAP.
Meanwhile, the New Zamboanga International Airport Development Project – Rebid, with an allocation of P92.5 million, focuses on consultancy services for the detailed engineering design study.
During the submission and opening of eligibility documents held on September 8, the DOTr confirmed several firms competing for the projects.
For the New Zamboanga Airport, three firms submitted their bids: Schema Konsult Inc., Urban Integrated Consulting Inc., and Project Design Plus Architecture Management Corp.
The New Surigao Airport attracted three bidders, namely Schema Konsult Inc., Palafox Associates, one of the country’s most renowned architecture and urban planning firms, and Project Design Plus Architecture Management Corp.
For the Camiguin Airport Development Project, the Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong – Hydronet Consultants Joint Venture emerged as the sole bidder.
The agency emphasized that all three projects are part of the government’s transport modernization program, designed to improve airport facilities and connectivity across the country.
Once the evaluation of eligibility documents is completed, qualified firms will proceed to the next stages of the procurement process before the awarding of consulting contracts.
