Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is set to roll out fiber broadband in eight more airports nationwide this year, after its launch of free broadband service at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Recently, Converge completed the rollout of its free Wi-Fi project in all terminals of NAIA and launched free Wi-Fi at the overseas Filipino workers (OFW) lounge in NAIA Terminal 1.
The company provides fiber broadband connectivity equipped with 500 megabits per second upload and download speeds.
“To contribute to this effort, we have provided our fiber broadband connectivity for their use for 2 hours. If they are a Converge FiberX or Surf2Sawa subscriber, they have an additional 6 hours of internet access,” said Benjamin Azada, Converge chief sustainability officer.
The company said the free Wi-Fi project is aligned with the fourth pillar in its sustainability agenda, creating positive community impact to enhance inter-sectoral linkages through increasing internet speed, coverage and network, and seamless and inclusive connectivity by addressing universal mobility and connectivity needs.
“We are proud to be a partner of the government in providing free Wi-Fi in public spaces, including this latest facility in NAIA Terminal 1. Our OFWs deserve no less than this seamless, high-quality connectivity to keep them connected to their loved ones and their employers abroad,” said Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge chief executive officer and co-founder.
Last month, Converge extended free fiber connectivity to more than 70 Revenue District Offices nationwide of the Bureau of Internal Revenue to support the electronic filing of the annual income tax return and payment of taxes due thereon during the tax filing season.
