THE Department of Energy (DOE) yesterday led the first regional Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) Summit seen to further push efforts towards energy efficiency
The regional GEMP Summit gathered energy efficiency and conservation (EEC) professionals in Mandaue City, Cebu yesterday. These include representatives from the public sector.
Alexander Ablaza, president of Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance, Inc. (PE2) in a statement, said PE2 believes that the first ever DOE-led GEMP Summit would be an excellent opportunity for DOE to understand the early progress of government entities, including national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, state universities and colleges and local government units in designating their EEC professionals and having them trained through the DOE-recognized training institutions for GEMP entities.
DOE said the summit also highlights best practices in energy efficiency applicable to the government, processes for formulating EEC plans for local government units and other entities and the future of regional cooperation in EEC initiatives across the Philippines.
