The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) expects to complete its substation in Sta. Rosa, Laguna being built for PLDT Group’s hyperscale data center by June next year.
Ronnie Aperocho, Meralco senior vice president and head of networks, around P140 million is allotted for the substation, subject to the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission.
The substation is being developed to ensure that PLDT’s VITRO, the country’s largest hyperscale date center currently being constructed in a five-hectare property, will have reliable and high-quality electricity service once it starts operations.
Meralco’s substation will serve the dynamic power requirements of the hyperscale data center and will have the capability to scale up and address the growing power demand of the facility over time through the installation of additional power banks.
The substation was also designed to provide resilient and flexible power to the data center.
VITRO Sta. Rosa is designed to be energy efficient utilizing the latest innovations in cooling and power redundancy and equipped with the highest level of network diversity and resilience with at least three fiber routes from PLDT, augmented by routes from other carriers.
