STT GDC Philippines, a joint venture between Globe Telecom Inc., Ayala Corp. and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), is on track to start the operation of its data center in Fairview, Quezon City by early 2025.
“Digital is expanding everywhere. And of course, there’s a need for data centers to be able to support this digital expansion. With respect to the Fairview build, a couple of months ago, we announced the groundbreaking of the facility and today, we’re continuing to go on track. And we expect to continue to stay on track for our early 2025 ready-for-service date that we have announced in the past,” said Carlo Malana, STT GDC Philippines president and chief executive officer.
The company also plans to expand its three existing data centers located in Makati, Cavite and Quezon City.
With a combined capacity expansion of 5.2 megawatts (MW) set for this year, the company is poised to surpass the capacity of most single data centers locally. This expansion is a direct response to the high market demand and the ongoing digital transformation sweeping the nation, it said.
In May, the company unveiled its plans for the STT Fairview data center campus. Touted as the largest, most interconnected, sustainable and carrier-neutral data center campus in the country, STT Fairview is designed to serve at an information technology capacity of 124 MW. The initial phase of its operations is slated for early 2025. — Myla Iglesias
