Quorum Holdings Corp. is expanding its Toby’s Sports and Urban Athletics chains of stores on increased demand for exercise equipment and sports and athleisure apparel.
Roberto Claudio, chairman and chief executive officer of Quorum Holdings, told reporters the company now has 75 stores after it recently opened two new branches. Of these, 51 are in Metro Manila.
Claudio said the company will openfour more next year, one each in Visayas and Mindanao and two in North Luzon.
The expansion is focused on provincial locations.
“People are more conscious about their health especially after the pandemic. The concept of work-from-home has boosted demand for fitness equipment like treadmills and exercise bikes. With these, people are also dressing down, opting to wear athleisure apparel,” Claudio said.
He added the sneaker culture in the Philippines has evolved.
“People, especially the younger generation, buy two different kinds of sneakers, one for performance sports and another for lifestyle. There are those who collect limited edition shoes for display,” Claudio said.
