Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) said its co-owned P4.25-billion 50 megawatts (MW) solar power project in San Miguel, Bulacan is operational.
The company said construction of the BulacanSol project started in December 2019 following the issuance of notice-to-proceed to SUMEC Complete Equipment & Engineering Co. Ltd., the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor of the facility.
“As the first operational project of MGreen, BulacanSol is a very important milestone that drives us to aggressively pursue more projects that will help us achieve our target of building a renewable energy portfolio with a capacity of up to 1,500MW in the next five to seven years,” said Rogelio Singson, MGen president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
The facility which secured a clearance to operate from the Energy Regulatory Commission on Wednesday is developed by PowerSource First Bulacan Solar, Inc., a company co-owned by MGen Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGreen) for 60 percent while the remaining 40 percent is being held by PowerSource Energy Holdings Corp.
