SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) is spending P16 billion for nine new hotels and the expansion of the SMX Convention Center in Cebu.
In a press briefing for the official launch of SMHCCs newest property, Lanson Place Mall of Asia, company executive vice president Peggy Angeles said construction is ongoing for two hotels in Cebu, both franchised under the Park Inn and Radisson brands.
Angeles said the company last year signed a master franchise with Radisson to carry the Park Inn brand.
In March, the company signed six other license agreements with Radisson: five Park Inn hotel and one Radisson.
Angeles said SMHCC is expanding to locations outside Metro Manila. Projects are lined up in Fairview, Quezon City; Dasmarinas, Cavite; Laguna; Iloilo; Cauayan, Isabela and Olongapo.
Angeles said SMHCC will also introduce a serviced apartment/hotel at the back of Park Inn Clark under the Radisson brand.
Angeles said SMX Convention Center Cebu will replicate the one in Mall of Asia which has 17,170 square meters of leasable space.
The nine other hotels will add to the current portfolio of SMHCC hotels of 2,506 rooms.
The Cebu hotels will open from 2027 onwards while the others will open in 2028 onwards.
