SM Group to assist MSMEs

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has signed two agreements with the SM Group committing to assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The first is a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between with SM Prime Holdings that will help train 6,000 MSMEs nationwide on their Business Continuity Plans from 2024 to 2027.

The other is a memorandum agreement with SM Supermalls giving MSMEs enrolled in the former’s One Town, One Product program access to 8 SM malls in strategic locations.

“We are building a more robust, more resilient business landscape by equipping businesses with disaster preparedness knowledge, tools and technologies to enhance their preparedness,” said DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual.

For this initiative, the DTI partnered with ARISE-Philippines, the local network of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies In September last year, a BCP Training of Trainers was conducted under the Business Resilience Program for SMEs, where 376 participants from SM Supermalls attended.
