TWO South Korean companies are keen on partnering with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) for high-impact projects in New Clark City in Tarlac and Poro Point in La Union, the agency said in a statement on Monday.

The BCDA said its president and chief executive officer Joshua Bingcang met separately with officials of Moon Engineering Co. Ltd., an engineering and consulting firm, and Jin Systems Co. Ltd., an expert in smart city solutions, in Seoul on March 18.

In the statement, BCDA said Moon Engineering discussed with the agency the possible conduct of a feasibility study on the upgrade of the San Fernando Airport in the Poro Point Freeport Zone.

Jin Systems, BCDA added, is eyeing possible collaboration to deploy and test smart mobility solutions in New Clark City as part of the 2025 K-City Network Smart Solution Demonstration Project.

“These potential partnerships will play a pivotal role in advancing infrastructure and integrating cutting-edge technologies in New Clark City and Poro Point,” Bingcang said.

Currently, San Fernando Airport, managed by Poro Point Management Corp., has a limited operational capacity, primarily serving chartered flights and flying schools, BCDA said.

It added the proposed upgrade aims to improve the capacity of the airport, enabling it to accommodate more commercial flights.

BCDA said the proposed smart city demonstration project in New Clark City will integrate green and efficient mass transport systems. Jin Systems will introduce cutting-edge smart mobility solutions in New Clark City and explore long-term applications and scalability of smart city technologies in the area, it added.

No other details were available as the BCDA said discussions with the two companies were still ongoing.
