Chicken restaurant Tiong Bahru Hainanese Chicken, the first overseas franchise of a popular Singaporean restaurant chain, opened in the Philippines before the pandemic.

Surprisingly, sales climbed during the lockdowns with its roast chicken and Hainanese poached chicken with ginger, chili and hoisin sauces among the crowd favorites for delivery.
This healthy but affordable dish as well as the fish head curry and tofu with chili sauce are some of the signature dishes of Tiong Bahru Philippines. These and other dishes are prepared onsite for freshness instead of being delivered from a commissary.
The local franchise chain has since opened seven outlets, mostly in malls, and continues to expand.
Tiong Bahru Hainanese merited the Michelin Big Gourmand Award for serving top quality food at affordable prices.
The restaurant finds it roots in Tiong Bahru, the oldest estate in Singapore, a quaint community with an intriguing mix of old and new.
Tiong Bahru Hainanese Chicken in its website said this neighborhood is currently one of the “hippest” places in Singapore. One of the most famous landmarks in the district is Tiong Bahru Market where Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice offers authentic hawker food. – Irma Isip
