Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. launched a high-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging service and a nature-based solutions (NBS) carbon offset service for drivers, as part of the company’s efforts to help the country achieve its emission targets.
The company in a statement said through the new offerings, PSPC will now cater to EV users and customers with the first Shell Recharge service to be initially available in Shell Mamplasan in Laguna, starting this month that will gradually be rolled out to more stations within the next 12 months.
PSPC added its EV charger is currently the most powerful DC fast charger located on the South Luzon expressway as it is capable of fully re-charging an average EV in 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, PSPC said that its NBS carbon offset service, works by adding a service fee per liter, to compensate the equivalent carbon emissions from their fuel purchase that will be retired by PSPC on behalf of the customer.
The total number of liters purchased with carbon offsets by customers are then assigned the equivalent carbon credits from Shell’s independently verified global portfolio of Shell NBS afforestation, reforestation and conservation projects.
PSPC added that the NBS carbon offset service will be available within 15 sites including Shell Mamplasan this mont with a target of 100 sites by the end of year.
