A more secure fuel supply is expected in Mindanao with Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. ’s (PSPC) third largest import facility located in Darong.
The facility broke ground last week signaling the start of construction.
The facility will have a rated capacity of 67 million liters of petroleum products and will be operational by the third quarter of 2024.
This will increase PSPC’s total importation capacity to 474 million liters.
Shell’s terminals are located in Tabangao in Batangas with a capacity of 263 million-liters; Cagayan de Oro City, 90 million-liters capacity and; Subic, 54 million-liters.
Uponcompletion of the Darong import facility, PSPC has plans to establish more than 80 new mobility sites in Southern Mindanao by 2025 that are designed to enhance customer experience by offering both fuel and non-fuel products.
PSPC also expects the Darong import facility to help and promote business continuity and stability in the area, providing resources for mobility during incidents of storms, floods and other natural calamities.
The facility is a 50-50 joint venture owned by energy company Northern Star Energy Corp. and DMCI Construction and Equipment Resources Inc., which will be building the facility.
Sta. Cruz Storage Corp. will design, construct and operate the facility for PSPC. – Jed Macapagal
