The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has released a new suggested retail price (SRP) bulletin for consumer goods, reflecting increased prices of 2 to 15 percent for select basic and prime commodities since its issue on February 1.
The department bulletin published on its website Thursday said the new SRPs cover 77 stock keeping units (SKUs) or 41 percent of the 191 units monitored by the DTI.
An SKU consists of alphanumeric digits and scannable bar codes printed on a product label that allows vendors to track inventory.
The bulletin shows price increases of 2 to 15 percent from its previous edition on Jan. 12, 2024.
This means that consumers now pay more for their purchases of canned sardines, condensed milk, evaporated milk, powdered milk, coffee refill, 3-in-1 coffee, bread, instant noodles, candles, batteries, canned meats, condiments, bottled water, toilet soap, as well as Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesal.
The price of affordable Pinoy Tasty increased by P3.50 per 450-gram loaf to P44 from P40.50 last year. Pinoy Tasty is now selling at P27.25 per 250 grams of the 10-slice pack, from P25.
This is the first time in three years that the price of Pinoy Tasty has moved since 2022.
Compared with their January 2024 prices, a brand of coffee increased by P1.75 or 9 percent to P20.25 per 25-g pack, from P18.50. A certain brand of sardines now costs P20.50 per 155-g can from P17.77, up by P2.73 or 15 percent. A brand of powdered milk now sells for P70.75 per 150-g pack, an increase of P6 or 9 percent from P64.75.
