A new segment of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Connector road project has been opened, in time for the expected traffic surge during the Undas and barangay election.
In a statement, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. unit NLEX Corp. said the 1.8-kilometer four-lane (2×2) NLEX Connector section from España boulevard to Magsaysay boulevard is open to motorists starting on October 28.
“To alleviate the expected increase in traffic volume, we immediately decided to open the NLEX Connector España to Magsaysay Section. This should help improve the travel experience of motorists as this new section will make travel from Metro Manila to the North, and vice versa, faster and more convenient, especially this Undas,” said J. Luigi Bautista, NLEX Corp. president.
The tollway company will retain the current discounted rate of P86 for the NLEX Connector until further notice.
Providing a 24/7 alternative route to motorists in all vehicle classes, the new segment will help ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila, especially in major thoroughfares such as EDSA and Circumferential Road 5 (C5).
Apart from cutting the travel time from C3 in Caloocan to Magsaysay boulevard in Manila to just eight minutes, it is seen to ease the traffic conditions in Nagtahan, G. Araneta, Aurora boulevard, Lacson, Magsaysay and España boulevard.
