Robotics has been helping Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries, the iconic sweets go-to at the iconic Roxas boulevard in Dumaguete City in its digital transformation.
Together with the Mechatronics and Robotics Society of the Philippines, the Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) is bringing Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries into orbit with MIRDC’s Advanced Mechatronics, Robotics and Industrial Automation Laboratory (AMERIAL).
AMERIAL conducts research and development to bring mechatronics, robotics, and automation for beneficiaries of the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) SET UP program. MIRDC is part of the DOST.
That’s pairing industrial markets (read: industrial transformation) with smart manufacturing. It’s the fourth industrial revolution come to the Visayas, bringing process manufacturing, logistics and supply chain to this seaside city that is a sleepy town at heart.
AMERIAL consultants have visited various firms in Negros Oriental, including Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries in Dumaguet City and Raw Brown Sugar Milling Company, Inc. in Pamplona town.
Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries has been a beneficiary of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), DOST’s no-collateral, interest-free facility. SETUP means what it says, technology upgrading for small enterprises. It partners an enterprise with scientists who assess its technology needs to streamline operations and production costs and ramp up the profit margin.
Until December 2021, technical services at the P40.9-million AMERIAL facility will be free of charge to enterprises willing to take the leap.
AMERIAL is DOST’s newest, modern facility that offers mechatronics, robotics, and industrial automation technologies. It opened in June at the DOST science complex in Bicutan, Taguig.
The AMERIAL team in Pangasinan has visited C&S Food Products in Manaoag, Julia’s Ice Creamy in Dagupan City, Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation in Sta. Barbara, Bella’s Puto in Calasiao, Chelsea’s Peanut Butter in Bayambang, Binmaley RIC in Binmaley and MSL Enterprises in Lingayen.
The technical team is preparing a technical report on the automation process needed and the technology cost required.
