Manila Water Co. Inc. ’s Hinulugang Taktak sewage treatment plant in Antipolo City is expected to be operational by December as it is reached more than 60 percent completion.
The company said the P2.5-billion sewerage treatment plant will maintain and rehabilitate the ecological balance in the area by treating up to 16 million liters per day of wastewater from households before discharging it to the falls.
The facility is expected to provide sewerage service to 148,000 residents of Barangays dela Paz, San Isidro, San Roque and San Jose in Antipolo City.
“Aside from providing 24/7 water supply to our customers, sanitation remains at the forefront of our service improvement efforts. We believe that by providing quality sanitation, we are contributing to better community health and environmental sustainability in the province,” said Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water corporate communications affairs group director, in a statement.
Manila Water is also constructing the P1.39 billion Cayetano pumping station and reservoir in Taguig City that will help ensure uninterrupted water supply to over 1.6 million customers in Pasig, Pateros and Taguig.
