ACEN Corp. through its subsidiary, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (RES), has been tapped to supply 100 percent RE supply to RCBC Plaza in Makati.
RCBC Plaza has two office towers, four-level podium, a 450-seat auditorium, a museum, a 200-seat chapel, banking chambers, convenience and service shops, a food court, seven levels of basement parking, lecture and seminar rooms as well as an open-air courtyard.
The partnership between RCBC Plaza and ACEN RES was made possible through the Retail Competition and Open Access program that gives qualified electricity consumers the freedom to choose their electricity supplier.
However, the parties did not disclose the amount and capacity of energy involved in the partnership.
“We are delighted to partner with RCBC Plaza in their shift to 100 percent renewable energy. By choosing ACEN RES, they are enabling ACEN to develop more renewable energy capacity, help the country achieve its target to increase the share of renewables and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels,” said Eric Francia, ACEN president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
The companies said the partnership also extends beyond just securing RE for RCBC Plaza as the Yuchengco group’s banking unit, RCBC also played a role in enabling ACEN’s pivot to RE with the divestment of the South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp. through an Energy Transition Mechanism.
“Transitioning to renewable energy aligns perfectly with our vision for RCBC Plaza. This decision not only benefits the environment but also positions us as the premier destination for environmentally-conscious businesses seeking a world-class office space with a commitment to sustainability,” said Lorenzo Tan, RCBC Realty Corp. president and chief executive officer.
