Electronic commerce startup SariSuki expects to triple its topline in the next 12 months amid a brisk business as well as its diversification.
SariSuki on Wednesday unveiled its venture into the rapid grocery delivery business, Supah which complements the firm’s initial venture, group-buying platform.
Brian Cu, SariSuki founder and chief executive officer, expressed confidence about the prospects of the company, saying the inclusion of Supah will ensure accelerated growth.
In Supah, SariSuki introduces the first digital rapid grocery delivery service in the country.
Accessible through a downloadable application, Supah guarantees quality grocery items delivered within 15 minutes covering a range of popular snacks, condiments, beverages, fresh produce, dry and frozen goods, among others.
Lance Gokongwei, JG Summit Holdings Inc. president, and board director at SariSuki, said the rise of instant commerce, whereby companies promise to deliver groceries and other curated essentials in 15 minutes or less has accelerated during the pandemic.
“Unlike traditional retailers, who deliver from stores or warehouses, instant commerce companies deliver directly from smaller format dark stores that are located strategically in high density areas,” he said.
JG Digital Equity Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of JG Summit, is an investor in Sarisuki.
Cu said to ensure Supah’s coverage of Metro Manila, SariSuki plans to put up as much 40 dark stores around the metro. SariSuki currently has 8 dark stores.
An assortment of different products, from international and local brands are made available in the Supah App, that includes a rich selection of premium items across various food, beverage, household, personal care, home care, and pet care segments.
“Supah offers great potential as it tries to address the consumers’ evolving needs in grocery shopping by finding the optimal balance among several critical factors like speed, assortment, value, and convenience. This innovative technology will help shape the future of grocery shopping in the country,” said Gokongwei.
Supah operates everyday from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. the following day, with delivery services initially available in Makati City, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Pasig City, Mandaluyong City, San Juan City, Binondo district in City of Manila, and both New Manila and Timog areas of Quezon City.
SariSuki recently raised $10.7 million from regional and global investors – Openspace Ventures, SIG, Global Founders Capital, Saison Capital, JG Digital Equity Ventures, and Foxmont Capital Partners.
SariSuki was launched in May last year and currently serve about 60,000 consumers.
