Graduates from Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) are the preferred talents by hirers in the country, according to data culled by JobStreet by SEEK.
A survey conducted last May 2023 on 700 companies in 42 industries showed PUP was tagged by 23.39 percent of respondents as their source of talent due to employers’ perception graduates of the university are effective team players in the workplace.
The University of the Philippines (UP) at 9.17 percent ranked second followed by the De La Salle University (DLSU) at 6.88 percent, with both universities benefiting from the reputation and alignment of their institutions to the industries of hirers.
The University of Santo Tomas (UST), 5.28 percent and Mapúa University, 3.44 percent, placed fourth and fifth respectively.
The remaining schools that complete the top 10 list include Batangas State University (3.21 percent), University of Mindanao (2.29 percent), University of Cebu (2.06 percent), Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) (2.06 percent), and STI College (2.06 percent).
According to the survey, hirers from information technology (IT), human resources, and call center/business process outsourcing (BPO) industries are the top recruiters that hire talent from PUP and UP.
