The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Environmental Management Bureau, is set to conduct a public scoping on ACEN’s proposed 270 megawatts (MW) battery energy storage system project to be located in Pililla, Rizal.
The public scoping set on August 9 is the initial stage in the environmental impact assessment process where the proponent aims to provide an overview of the proposed project.
The project which will be pursued by ACEN through Ingrid Power Holdings, Inc., together with its partner, Axia Power Holdings Philippines Corp., is set to start construction by first quarter next year and expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2024.
Based on the public scoping document from the DENR, ACEN will spend around P6.875 billion for the project and will hire around 150 workers for the construction phase and an estimated seven personnel to oversee the entire operation and maintenance of the project, prioritizing employment opportunities for locals.
ACEN signed last Friday an agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Technology for the supply and installation of 14 units of wind turbines for its planned Capa Wind project.
