Investigations are underway on the recent power supply interruptions even as yellow alert was averted in the Luzon Grid yesterday.
“We leave it to the enforcement agencies considering that they also have to comply with due process requirements but nonetheless, coordination with the DOE has been done and we are closely coordinating with enforcement agencies,” said to Felix William Fuentebella, undersecretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Laging Handa public briefing yesterday.
The Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Justice and the Philippine Competition Commission are investigating if there was collusion among power plants and other stakeholders in the simultaneous shutdowns that led to the deficiency in supply,
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines announced at 10 a,.m. yesterday Luzon Grid was to be placed on a yellow alert from 1 p,m to 3 p,m. as reserves were only at 416 megawatts (MW).
Demand from was at 11,344 MW with available capacity only at 11,760 MW.
The announcement was retracted at 10:15 a.m. as electricity demand fell brought by the cooler temperature due to the rain and improved generating capacities.
