Razon-led signed an agreement with United Kingdom-based construction firm Mace to establish a project management office (PMO) for the 600 megawatts (MW) Wawa and 1,400 MW Pakil pumped storage hydroelectric (PSH) power projects.

Under the agreement, Mace will establish a structured PMO framework that will augment the efficiency, governance and execution of the existing management structure for the two large-scale PSH projects, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mace will implement a phased approach that covers all aspects of the project, including people, organization, process, information and technology, that will be integrated in a streamlined, transparent and results-driven project management system, Prime Infra added.

The parties did not disclose the amount involved in the deal.

The Wawa PSH project in Rizal is targeted for commercial operations by 2029. It will have a storage capacity of 6,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) per day and a generating output capacity of 600 MW.

The Pakil PSH project in Laguna will have a storage capacity of 14,000 MWh per day and a generating output of 1,400 MW that is scheduled to be operational by 2030.

“Delivering the Wawa and Pakil projects on schedule is critical to meeting the country’s energy needs. Mace’s proven expertise in project management enhances both the efficiency and structure of our existing execution processes,” said Guillaume Lucci, Prime Infra president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Davendra Dabasia, Mace Consult CEO, said the move is part of the company’s goal to support “the development of more resilient and sustainable infrastructure in the Philippines and wider Asia Pacific region.”

Prime Infra is focused on the development of assets that support the most urgent sustainability priorities, including energy, access to clean water and waste management.
