The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said prices of 21 Noche Buena products will be reduced and prices of about half of the more than 190 others will stay at 2020 levels.

DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez assured of sufficient supply of basic and prime commodities during the holidays where demand is traditionally high.

“We have not experienced shortages the past many Christmases and even during the height of the pandemic in 2020. It is important that delivery of goods is unhampered,” Lopez said.

He said tightness in the supply of local pork due to African swine fever has been addressed by imports.

The DTI is studying requests of some manufacturers to increase prices of Noche Buena products.

The DTI had committed to publish the Noche Buena products whose prices are reduced or are steady as an added marketing promotion.

Lopez said this also means consumers have the option when shopping.
