Despite the high inflation rate, Globe Telecom Inc. said the latest Apple device pre-order this year has surpassed that of last year and this is expected to continue to drive the growth of its mobile postpaid business.
“We opened various ways for people to get (iPhone 14) We have the traditional postpaid, and even the prepaid subscribers they can get the latest device via partnership with credit card and get a discount on it,” Mark Pasaylo, Globe Postpaid portfolio director, said at the midnight launch of the latest iPhone device last week.
In 2008, Globe started its partnership with Apple for the launch of iPhone devices in the Philippines.
As of June, Globe had a total of 87.4 million mobile subscribers, of which 2.55 million are postpaid customers.
Globe Postpaid’s gross acquisition for the period stood at 259,886 or 10 percent higher than the same period last year.
The decline in churn rate of 1.4 percent as of the first half of the year, from 1.7 percent a year ago, led to that period’s total net addition in postpaid subscribers to reach 51,671, significantly better than last year’s net reduction in postpaid subscribers of 13,665, Globe said. – Myla Iglesias
