The Philippine National Railways (PNR) is set to resume today, February 9, the operation of San Pablo to Calamba routes in Laguna following the completion of rail rehabilitation.

The PNR suspended the operation of San Pablo to Calamba last October 30 after the bridges and rail tracks were damaged by Typhoon Paeng.

PNR said it has spent P10.4 million for the rehabilitation and repair of the bridges in Biñan, Laguna and Tarapichi.

The first trip is at 6:23 a.m. from San Pablo going to Calamba, and the last trip from Calamba to San Pablo is at 6:30 p.m.

Last February 1, PNR also resumed the operation of Calamba to Tutuban.

PNR operates two commuter rail services in Metro Manila and the Bicol Region. The Bicol service is currently under rehabilitation in preparation for the resumption of the Bicol Express run to Naga City in Camarines Sur province, and eventually to the southern terminal in Legazpi City in Albay.

In a related development, the Department of Transportation said the Metro Rail Transit line 3 has served 400,821 passengers and recorded an average of 18 train sets deployed on the mainline, on February 7.
