The Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) has partnered with Windstream Energy Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. to implement the latter’s SolarMill technology that involves a hybrid wind solar renewable energy system.

The parties signed last week a memorandum of understanding for the deployment of Solar Mill technology across small island communities in the Philippines.

PNOC said the initiative aligns with its strategy of transitioning towards a social enterprise model and supporting the electrification goals of the national government as well.

PNOC added the collaboration with Windstream also aims to support the National Power Corp.’s hybridization program for Small Power Utility Group areas as it can enhance energy access and sustainability in off-grid communities by blending diesel-powered generation with solar and wind power.

SolarMill, developed by Windstream Energy is a modular and scalable clean energy solution that integrates solar panels and vertical-axis wind turbines with magnet generators that can be installed in diverse locations, including remote and rough terrain due to its compact size.

Windstream, which is headquartered in India, has clients in 38 countries.
