PLDT Inc.’s international arm PLDT Global has partnered with SandBox Middle East (SandBox ME) to expand its mobile and digital services for overseas Filipinos in the region.

Under this partnership, Filipinos in the Middle East will be able to purchase Smart and TNT mobile load, pay bills and avail of electronic gifts via SandBox ME’s retail and direct-to-consumer network.

“This is another step towards our goal of bringing services available locally to our Filipino workers abroad as we continue to help empower and uplift our kababayans,” Albert Villa-Real, PLDT Global president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Customers of PLDT’s international arm will benefit from the extensive reach of SandBox ME, including a network of mom-and-pop convenience stores that overseas Filipino workers frequent for their shopping needs.

SandBox ME also directly reaches its consumers through its close partnership with a courier service, as well as its team of direct sellers across the Emirates.

“The collaboration with PLDT Global extends the leadership of SandBox ME in the region and reinforces its position as the ideal partner for Philippine brands and institutions. It likewise extends our product offering beyond food and grocery items. Customers will be able to ensure that their remittances are spent as intended. This service also allows them to support their families back home in a hassle-free and secure manner,” said Lito German, SandBox ME chief executive officer.

PLDT said this initiative for overseas Filipinos falls under its group-wide commitment to awesome customer experience and quality of service, one of the pillars that comprise the company’s sustainability framework. – Myla Iglesias
