Megawide Construction Corp. has expressed confidence that its Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) business will reach the 200-million passenger mark within the second quarter of 2025.

The company in a statement on Monday said this will solidify the terminal’s position as the country’s leading intermodal transport hub.

The company said PITX handled a total of 178.9 million passengers at the end of 2024, six years since it opened in 2018.

Passenger traffic last year alone rose  31.7 percent to 51.56 million from 39.16 million in 2023, it added.

The facility serves as a terminal for over 105 bus destinations—72 provincial and 33 in-city.

PITX introduced six new routes in Luzon and two in the Visayas region in 2024 as part of its ongoing efforts to improve nationwide connectivity.

“The upcoming Cavite Bus Rapid Transit System will further reinforce PITX’s role – as a key destination in its P2P routes – in providing an efficient and sustainable transport alternative for commuters in the Cavite-Metro Manila corridor,” Megawide said.

It said the opening of the Light Rail Transit line 1 PITX (Asia World) Station in November 2024 has contributed to PITX’s daily average, with an estimated 20,000 passengers arriving and departing from PITX via LRT-1 daily, Megawide said.
