The government will formally launch today the country’s first knowledge, innovation and science technology (KIST) Park, the Batangas State University.
BatStateU KIST Park has also been declared as special economic zone by virtue of signing of Presidential Proclamation No. 947 in May. It also received its registration with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) last June.
A KIST park is a new type of ecozone development that harnesses human resources and establishes linkages between industries and the academe through state universities and colleges.
BatStateU KIST Park is a 2.7-hectare, state-of-the-art facility in Barangay Alangilan, Batangas City that will accommodate locators which can offer programs for knowledge-sharing, collaborative research, mentoring, and hosting of challenge labs for BatStateU students and faculty members.
The park will also offer support services on startup incubation, patent services, and product development to locators.
A first of its kind, the IT park will contribute to Batangas City as an emerging location for information technology and business process management.
Challenge labs, technovation summits, design thinking workshops, business model pitching competitions are some of the many programs at the Center for Technopreneurship & Innovation (CTI) that will complement and boost activities for BatStateU KIST Park
CTI will be housed at the BatState KIST Park’s first building, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Environment Research Hub.
Batangas State University is a Level IV state university in the Calabarzon region, and the only SUC in the country accredited by the US Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology for its Engineering and Information Technology programs. It is rated 3 stars in the Quacquarelli Symonds list of top universities.
